  • Accessible Search Box

I am trying to make sure the search box passes accessibility testing here http://wave.webaim.org/

I am not sure if I have gone overboard or not but the one below does pass the accessibility test.

    http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/zoom-accessible-search.html

Unfortunately I have no idea what changes to make to the search.php file so that the search box inserted will also pass accessibility test. Can anyone help??

You can disable the search form generated by the script via "Configure"->"Search Page"-> and clicking on the "Search form" dropdown changing it from "Advanced" to "Do not generate".

Then you can specify your own search form in HTML on the "search_template.html" page. The disadvantage to this is that the search form will not auto-populate with the previous query.

You are free to modify "search.php" but we do not support customizations to the script. So note that if you have any problems we need to look at in the future, you will need to be able to roll back and show that the problem exists in the unmodified script.
