No image for default/homepage

  • No image for default/homepage

    I have configured images for html and shtml pages. Those appear in my search returns.

    However I do not see any images/icons for default pages.

    An example of this would be:

    http://mysite.com/ (no icon)

    http://mysite.com/training/ (no icon)

    http://mysite.com/training/classes.shtml (icon)

    Do I need to configure something to have images show for default/homepages?

    You can associate thumbnail images by extension. However, the first two URLs given above do not have an extension. And you cannot currently associate thumbnails for no extensions.

    Having said that, usually there is actually a filename for those URLs. In other words, http://mysite.com/

    Is usually just http://mysite.com/index.html or http://mysite.com/index.php etc. The spider picks up the links you used on your website, and if you changed your links to point to the actual filename, then the extension would be recognized.

    Alternatively, you can use a ZOOMIMAGE meta tag on those pages to manually specify a thumbnail image for each page accordingly. See this FAQ:
