  • Results not picking up mysql generated links

    Hello there,

I'm having trouble understanding why the search engine is not picking up the links.

It is showing in the results but not inserting the links.

Here you can find the page to see whats happening. Many Thanks.

The links are inserted in a div onclick and also on a basic a href

I solved the problem by adding a sitemap index.

But i cant understand why it's not picking up the following page?

    http://www.thevideopoll.com/New_Video_Polls/

    Any ideas?

I don't see any reason why you needed to create the sitemap file in order to do the indexing.

If pages aren't being indexed, then the first thing to check is the log file. If you can't see the cause, save hte log, zip up the entire log file and E-Mail it to us.

Not sure what you mean here. So the page in question shows up in the results.

"But not inserting the links"?? What do you mean by that? Are you expecting the context description (the part of the search result which quotes the text from the page it matched on) to also be clickable links? That's not standard behaviour for any search engine, and it's definitely very confusing for most users. Let us know if that's not what you mean.

But it is. I can see it as result #4 in the search link you gave in your original post (when searching for the word "adventurer").

          For anyone else reading this.
We got the log, and the problem turn out to be that the user had placed an entry in the skip list to skip the page in question.
